Recently the esteemed newspaper “The Sunday Times” had an article entitled “17 of the most beautiful places in Scotland”. Beautiful Aberdeenshire came top! And why would it not! The stunning scenery, the abundance and variety of castles (including one of the world’s most dramatic Dunnottar, the Royal Family’s Scottish residence Balmoral and Findlater Castle as seen in the movie The Odyssey), the charming villages, fascinating towns and Aberdeen city, the rugged coastlines, the endless golden sand beaches, the fantastic food and Whisky Distilleries, producing the some of the finest ever tasted. Plus much more…. You can read the article here - https://www.thetimes.com/travel/destinations/uk-travel/most-beautiful-places-in-scotland-70jvwwt39 Time Exposure Travel offer tours in Aberdeenshire. Big thanks to the lovely Green Family for booking a nine-day tour that took us round Scotland. We saw and did a lot from amazing scenery and walks to whisky distilleries, to sheep dog demonstrations, to kilt making and bagpipe learning. We visited the Royal Cairns near Balmoral Castle, the very historical St Andrews, Culloden Battlefield, Clave Cairns, met Highland Cows (who loved to be combed), ate fabulous food, met Santas Reindeer who live wild near Aviemore and not to mention the stunning castles and much more including Edinburgh, The Kelpies and Culross (a must for Outlander Fans). Our tours often take us to The Highland Cow Farm. Guests learn about the cows and get to comb their hair and enjoy a Highland Beef lunch. Highland Beef is very tasty. The cows absolutely love being combed, they cannot get enough, and it is their nirvana. We were treated to the sight of a new arrival the other day, a baby calf only a few days old. Balmoral Castle It has been a very busy summer for Time Exposure Travel, with many tours running and a lot to Balmoral Castle, the Royal Family’s home in Scotland. We have been exploring the estate as well as the castle and have been to parts most visitors don’t get to see. These include some of the memorial cairns including Prince Leopolds from which you get a great view down on the castle. The estate also has many beautiful houses the Royal Family stay in, a golf course (open to the public), revamped gardens, statues of Queen Victoria and John Brown, horses and Highland Cows. In the nearby St Manirs Church (the Crathie Church before Crathie Kirk was built) graveyard you will find Jogn Browns grave. (Slàinte Mhath" (pronounced slan-cha va) can be translated as "Good Health”) We have had a lot of great distillery tours and tastings recently, including Glenfiddich, Glenfarclas, Glenlivet, GlenAllachie, Aberlour, Fettercairn and Strathisla (where you can make your own whisky in a blending workshop). All make unique and wonderful offerings which you can taste whilst surrounded by beautiful scenery and fascinating history. For more information about our tours please visit www.timeexposure.travel

A great walk around Aberdeen and Old Aberdeen. Centuries of history, amazing architecture, statues and plaques (Manson proved the link between mosquitos and Malaria), famous gravestones, endless miles of untouched beaches, Grey Seals basking in the sun, the oldest bridge in Britain, beautiful scenery and quaint streets. The square in the ground is where the “whipping punishment” post used to stand. For more images see Instagram or Facebook. Aberdeen is definitely worth visiting, and if you wish to book one of our tours or have a chat, please visit www.timeexposure.travel .

There is a great new Hollywood movie out called “Last Breath” (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14403504/) starring Woody Harrelson and Simu Liu, which is the true story of a commercial diver being stranded 300ft at the bottom of the North Sea. The boat the divers were working from departed from Aberdeen and in the opening scene of the movie you see Dunnottar Castle (which is 15 miles south of Aberdeen). If visiting Aberdeen, we recommend a tour to visit this breathtaking castle, perched high on an outcrop of impregnable rock in the sea. It is shrouded in a long and bloody history including an attack by William Wallace (Braveheart) in the late 13th century. For more information about our tours please visit www.timeexposure.travel

After leaving Aberdeen we visited Huntly Castle which dates back to the 12 th century. A very interesting ruin with the “best” prison cell (a deep hole) and many an interesting carving on the walls (including Wyverns, which Game of Throne fans will recognise as the type of dragon that featured). We had an excellent tasting tour at the Glenallachie Distillery and a Whisky Tasting by the fire at the Glenfiddich Distillery. The Linn Falls were looking stunning. Some Highland Cows came to say “hello” which made everyone’s day.
